Last post to replace CCR post for sentimental reasons

So yeah, this was very interesting to write because I like, have a lot yet so little to say...the perfect catch-22. Yeah, I learned more than I think I ever could've thanks to this project. I am really grateful to my partner, isa, and everyone featured in the magazine. You'll hear the techy stuff in my CCR but...man, We really did that guys.
Welp, here's one second to last one.

Final project

She is long awaited, but here she is at last. My final thoughts on this are best summarized with: It looks great, and I think this is a magazine worth being proud of in the end :)

-Let's get this bread.

CCR research

I want my CCR to feel researched, complete, and well-balanced. That's why I am making this post dedicated to researching and recompiling info. I will use in my CCR to answer the questions. Think of this post as me filling in the blanks of my outline, and fleshing out a couple of things before recording it. As per the questions, I will tackle them in order:

Question 1:

Conventions of fashion mags: Lots of cover lines, faces included, emphasis on models. Distributed both at bookstores and online. Many issues have shifted from quarterly/monthly to weekly to compete for audiences with SM and TV, but surviving monthly/quarterly pieces have thrived by having subscription needs and ties to SM.

Articles becoming increasingly about social issues and politics, especially since 2016

question 2:

As per the sources above, magazine would interact with fans online and be sold at book stores. Reach audiences through websites like Alt-Press.

Question 3:

Welp, I literally didn't know how to edit like this prior to the project. I leaned how to use canva effectively, as well as Snapsy, POLARR, and PIXLR

Question 4:

Software definition: the programs and other operating information used by a computer.

Thus, the used the softwares of Snapsy, PIXLR and POLARR.

Hardware: I mainly used big flashlights for a nighttime photoshoot.

With this research done, I hope to make a fire CCR.

CCR speech outline

So I am getting near the end of my project, and as sad as that is, I have to start looking towards my final assignment: The CCR.

So I'll be honest, as a debate kid, I am AWFUL at writing in full sentences because I communicate in like, 99% shorthand. The CCR is 7 minute scripted speech..which, I'll be honest, sounds like a pain to write out. Sooooooooo....I OUTLINED IT! BuT wHy gUs?, you ask me. Well, its because I can and I will and that's how I always do my best!
So without FURTHER ado...here she is

-How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?
  • Alt-Fashion conventions-focused on models, faces and specific aesthetics
  • I break facial conventions hard
-How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?
  • Distributed through subscription, ads on high fashion sites like HighSnob, Barnes and Nobles
-How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
  • Basic canva edits to real editing apps like snapsy to
-How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

  • Several new software sin the from of apps and programs-snapsy/PIXLR

-General: source/site previous research

New Magazine drafts for final

Today in class, me and Isa were scrambling around with our magazines and decided to try and make productive work with the question "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if we changed this MINOR detail?" leading into "DUDE why don't we try this crazy, risky edit?"

We started of with the cover, now as y'all blog viewers (shoutout to Y'all) know, I had a first cover draft. I went about replacing the picture with one of Sil or Jean. We first tried Sil and, admittedly, we felt like it looked good. The black-and-white of the picture made us want to pursue a different color scheme, especially with the previously existing, white-black-red, so we said "hey, why not change the color order?"
I ended up with this:

I liked it a LOT, if I'm being honest. I recognized (and was advised) to maybe try something different because the alignment at the moment was very weird and it honestly made the masthead look like Sil's face, and if i was gonna break conventions THAT hard, I had to get it right...To which I happened to agree with, LOL. With getting it right in mind, this then became a great first step.

The weirder part was the debate I had about fonts for like, an hour with myself. See, I had originally used Fire Sans Light, but with sil now in the pic with a more jagged lighting scheme, the font seemed..weak. So I tried the next best Fire Sans font, BOLD. It looked like this:

^Yes, this was an actual internal debate I had with myself.

After this, I contemplated what to even put on a two-page spread, until Isa pointed out a picture of Jean she really liked. Once she die, we switched laptops for a small bit and she sent me the pictures and taught me how to use her editing software, POLARR. She taught me to use her custom filters too, so that post production knowledge came in SUPER handy considering I very much need it.Post-editing and enlargement, this was the two-page spread.

That same knowledge led us to making THIS bad boy of a cover:

^Dope, am I right ladies?

Anyways, Through the next period onto the night (at least time of posting), we worked on both our magazines and came out with very similar lay-outs after running edits and ideas by each other, as well as checking for similarity:

The two ads were pictures I had taken over the summer. One is of me in a Pretty trendy outfit holding an Arizona can, and the other is of my sister posing for her Instragram:

these are good, but I am a little sad Isa said I couldn't use my favorite picture as an ad:

Sad times, truly. Well, at least not in terms of this magazine, we're making progress and we shall be chillin' like a villain by the end.

model problem fixed + shoot #2

I overcame my crippling fears and asked Jean to help. Jean said Yes, so that was both

A. Clutch

B. D O P E

After that, I biked over to Jean's house, P500 in two, and took a series of FIRE pics, I think this is like...cover story material not to pat myself on the back too hard. Here are the highlights:

Heck yeah. Me and Isa will hop on PIXLR and POLAR (2 photo editing software) after break @ school in order to just touch it up. We will be using custom filters made by Isa by blending 3 filters together, as they both allow for these features. Final Product, here we come.
